UAB's Lee Shackleford
|
He has written plays, books and even stories for Star Trek: The Next
Generation. He's the UAB Theatre Department's Playwright-in-Residence.
He's a teacher of scriptwriting courses and play analysis. Lee
Shackleford's latest creation is called BodyLove. In remarks to AMP members
during their March 13th Writing for the Ear Workshop, Lee talks about an exciting
new radio drama on the air Wednesday evenings in Birmingham on WJLD, AM 1400.
It's a venture with a very serious side and one that Lee hopes just might
save a life one day--and it just might bring back a few memories, too!

WBHM's Steve Chiotakis
|
A master of weaving solid journalism with sound, WBHM morning anchor
Steve Chiotakis offers his philosophy about electronic story telling,
and shares the story of a group of sight-impaired children getting to
experience a piece of Birmingham's culture in a special way.
Steve is the winner of numerous honors, including the Edward R.
Murrow Award, and is a familiar voice to tens of thousands of central
Alabama residents. And oh yea--Steve talks about wearing the dreaded
frog suit!
Its power long overlooked, radio still has the ability to
mesmerize us through compelling stories. One person who
knows that perhaps best is Birmingham's Courtney Haden,
a veteran broadcaster, journalist and sound expert. Listen
as Courtney shares insights into the nuts and bolts of telling
stories broadcast-style in a way that grabs and holds your
attention.
